Fall in New England takes me back to a children’s book my mother often read to me, “A Tree Is Nice” by Janice Udry, illustrated by Marc Simont. The book’s lulling prose and illustrations quickened my imagination. The lush, green woods of summer in particular, followed by the brilliant gold, vermilion, and green of Autumn, and children raking leaves. I can’t imagine I will ever tire of such things. Year after year, I continue to revel in the beauty of our Earth.
